**Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): Jai Adivasi Yuva Shakti (JAYS) Demands Strict Action Against Accused in Tribal Woman Constable Assault Case**
Jai Adivasi Yuva Shakti (JAYS), a prominent organisation, has demanded stringent action against the accused involved in the assault of a tribal woman constable on Friday. Expressing their outrage, JAYS activists reached the Superintendent of Police (SP) office and submitted a memorandum urging the immediate arrest of Silawad BJP mandal president Ajay Yadav.
In the memorandum, the organisation alleged that Ajay Yadav maintains connections with a former cabinet minister and is frequently seen in the company of senior political leaders. JAYS further claimed that political pressure is being exerted on the victim to withdraw her complaint and that she is being threatened with expulsion from her job. The organisation accused Yadav of leveraging his political influence to evade accountability in this serious matter.
According to reports, the Barwani Kotwali police station registered a case on Thursday under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The complainant, a 30-year-old tribal woman Head Constable, alleged that Ajay Yadav molested her and threatened to terminate her from service. As detailed in the First Information Report (FIR), the incident occurred on Wednesday when the woman constable was returning home after shopping in Sendhwa. Ajay Yadav allegedly forced his way into her car, misbehaved with her, and upon her resistance, threatened to kill her and ensure she would lose her job.
**Demands by JAYS**
JAYS has called for the immediate arrest of Ajay Yadav and has urged for an impartial investigation led by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). They have also demanded the seizure and technical examination of Yadav’s mobile phone, along with a thorough scrutiny of his alleged illegal assets.
Moreover, the organisation has requested a fast-tracked trial to ensure speedy justice for the victim. JAYS leaders warned that failure by the police to take swift action would result in a large-scale agitation. They emphasized, “If women in uniform are unsafe, then the plight of ordinary women in the district would be unimaginable.”
**Police Response**
Addressing the situation, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dheeraj Babbar confirmed, “The police have arrested the accused Ajay Yadav and registered an FIR against him under relevant sections including molestation and atrocity. Following further legal proceedings, a challan will be presented in court.”
The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to work toward delivering justice for the tribal woman constable.
