Under Night In-Birth 2 concluded its current slate of DLC during EVO 2025, marking the end of the game’s first season of content. It’s been a long journey for the Under Night In-Birth series, and director Kamone Serizawa along with composer Raito have been thrilled to be part of it from the very beginning.

But what’s next? Where does Under Night In-Birth go from here?

Kamone and Raito sat down with us to discuss the evolution of the series and the future of the game. Kamone expressed his heartfelt thanks to the players for their unwavering support over the years. He never imagined that so many people would still be backing Under Night In-Birth 2 Sys: Celes on the main stage of EVO 2025, especially so long after the release of the first game and with consecutive EVO main stage appearances.

The team has been dedicated to working on Under Night for 10 years, with Izumi recently wrapping up the final run of DLC for UNI2. Despite this milestone, Kamone and Raito emphasized that they still have plans and a strong desire to continue working on the series and evolving it further.

With Raito on hand, we also had the chance to delve into the music of the game. Under Night In-Birth’s music has evolved significantly over the years. Initially, the game featured simple, short-looping tunes, but these have grown into more elaborate compositions in recent installments.

Raito explained that this evolution was influenced by the shift from developing music for arcades—where players experience the game in short bursts—to home console and PC versions, which allow players to enjoy the music at a more relaxed pace. This transition impacted his approach to composing for the series, resulting in the more complex and extended soundtracks found in Under Night In-Birth 2 Sys: Celes.
