**You Can Now Buy Prepaid Passes for Your Uber Rides**

Uber has introduced an exciting new feature: prepaid passes designed to help customers save money on frequently traveled routes. These passes are available in bundles of 5, 10, 15, or 20 rides, offered at discounted rates. Depending on the number of rides purchased in advance, discounts range from 5% up to 20%.
**How Uber Markets Prepaid Passes**
To promote this new feature, Uber compares the cost of a single ride to the price of buying rides in bulk. For instance, a trip from Lower Manhattan to Midtown in New York typically costs around $19, but surge pricing can increase fares up to $30. Customers who purchase prepaid passes benefit from avoiding these higher surge prices, paying a consistent discounted rate regardless of peak demand.
**How Prepaid Passes Work**
When purchasing prepaid passes, customers select a one-hour request window during which they commonly book rides. Uber displays a countdown to show how many passes remain available for use within that timeframe. This feature has been launched in 75 cities across the United States, including Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, and more.
**Expansion of Price-Lock Feature**
Alongside prepaid passes, Uber is expanding its price-lock feature. This option allows customers to lock in fares for up to 10 routes by paying a monthly fee of $2.99. If the actual fare at the time of the ride is lower than the locked-in price, customers will be charged the lower fare. Initially available in select cities, the price-lock feature is now accessible in all major U.S. cities and Brazil.
With these new offerings, Uber aims to provide riders with more predictable and affordable pricing options, enhancing convenience for daily commuters and frequent users alike.
