As Instagram continues to amass more users, the picture and video-sharing app has reached a new milestone. Instagram has now reached 3 billion Monthly Active Users (MAUs), making it the third Meta-owned app to achieve this feat.

Mark Zuckerberg confirmed the news today, as reported by CNBC, highlighting that Instagram’s user base represents a significant portion of the global population. This milestone places Instagram in the prestigious company of Facebook and WhatsApp, which have also surpassed 3 billion MAUs.

“What an incredible community we’ve built here,” Zuckerberg said of the achievement.

Meta previously reported MAU figures on a quarterly basis but has since shifted to sharing these numbers only when major milestones are reached. Instagram crossed the 2 billion Monthly Active Users mark back in 2022, while Facebook hit the 3 billion milestone in 2023.

Over the years, Instagram has continued to evolve by rolling out new features, with recent updates focusing heavily on video-sharing capabilities and AI integration to enhance user experience.

Meta is expected to report its next round of earnings in October, where more updates on its platforms and user growth may be shared.
