**Bollywood Actor Sonu Sood Summoned in Money Laundering Case Linked to Illegal Online Betting App 1xBet**
Bollywood actor Sonu Sood was summoned in a money laundering case linked to the illegal online betting app 1xBet. On Wednesday, September 24, the actor appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office for questioning.
In a video shared from the location, Sonu Sood, dressed in a green shirt, stepped out of his car accompanied by his lawyers. He wore a mask and black sunglasses to cover his face amid the ongoing probe.
The ED has also questioned several other notable figures in connection with the case, including former Indian cricketers Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh. In recent weeks, the agency has interrogated former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan, TMC MP and actor Mimi Chakraborty, actress Urvashi Rautela, and Bengali actor Ankush Hazra.
According to company statements, 1xBet is a globally recognized bookmaker with 18 years of operation in the betting industry. The brand’s platform allows customers to place bets on thousands of sporting events. Its website and app are reportedly available in 70 languages.
However, these betting apps are alleged to have defrauded several individuals and investors of crores of rupees. They are also accused of evading substantial amounts of direct and indirect taxes, according to the investigation.
The ED is expected to question more celebrities soon, including sportspersons, actors, and social media influencers, as the probe widens.
