**Attorney General Pam Bondi Declares End to Weaponization of Legal System Following James Comey Indictment**

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Friday that the weaponization of the legal system has come to an end, following the Department of Justice’s indictment of former FBI Director James Comey.

The DOJ revealed on Thursday that Comey faces two charges: one count of making a false statement within the jurisdiction of the legislative branch and one count of obstruction of a congressional investigation. These charges come after years of scrutiny regarding Comey’s handling of investigations related to the Trump administration and the 2016 election.

During a recent broadcast, host Sean Hannity discussed with Bondi the various legal challenges former President Donald Trump has endured, including the Russia investigation and the suppression of information related to Hunter Biden’s laptop. Hannity admitted he remained nervous about the country’s situation.

“You shouldn’t be nervous any longer because Donald Trump is in office, and the weaponization has ended. We’ve made that very clear,” Bondi responded confidently.

Bondi emphasized the seriousness of accountability moving forward. “Whether you’re a former FBI director, a former head of the intelligence community, a current state or local elected official, or even a billionaire funding organizations to try to keep Donald Trump out of office—everything is on the table.”

She further stated, “We will investigate you, and we will end the weaponization. No longer will there be a two-tier system of justice.”

Bondi revealed ongoing efforts with key officials, saying, “We are working hand-in-hand with FBI Director Kash Patel, Todd Blanche, our incredible intelligence community—including Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Radcliffe—going non-stop around the clock. People will be held accountable.”

### Details of the Indictment

The indictment against Comey stems from statements he made during September 2020 testimony before Congress. According to the DOJ, Comey falsely claimed that he had not authorized anyone at the FBI to act as an anonymous source. The indictment alleges that this claim was untrue.

Additionally, Comey’s 2020 testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee included assertions that he was unaware of problems with the Steele dossier, which formed the basis for surveillance applications against Trump campaign figures.

Igor Danchenko, the primary source for Christopher Steele, had already raised doubts about the dossier’s credibility. However, Comey testified that his staff had not informed him of these concerns.

At the same hearing, Comey also stated he could not recall details from a 2016 briefing that raised DOJ concerns about the dossier’s political bias against Trump.

### Background and Broader Context

Earlier reports this week indicated the DOJ was preparing to seek a grand jury indictment of Comey before a legal deadline expired. The department confirmed these charges on Thursday.

In July, FBI revelations showed that current Director Kash Patel uncovered burn bags filled with thousands of documents related to efforts to discredit Trump during the Russia investigation. Among the recovered items was a classified annex to Special Counsel John Durham’s final report, expected to detail the FBI’s role in promoting the Russia collusion narrative.

### Significance of the Indictment

The charges against Comey represent a significant development in ongoing efforts to reexamine the origins and management of the Russia investigation. The Trump administration has repeatedly stated that partisan efforts within government agencies unfairly targeted the former president.

The DOJ’s indictment of Comey signals a notable shift in how these cases are being handled moving forward. As investigations continue, renewed focus on accountability and justice appears to be a priority under the current administration.
