Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, a self-proclaimed godman, was recently arrested for sexually harassing 17 women at an ashram in Delhi. After evading the authorities for 50 days, he was apprehended in Agra. Subsequent police investigations uncovered a web of fraudulent activities involving forged documents and false claims of political connections.

### Fraudulent Documents and Fake Identities

During the investigation, police found two counterfeit visiting cards belonging to Chaitanyananda. One identified him as a Permanent Ambassador of the United Nations, while the other portrayed him as an Indian Special Envoy of BRICS. Additionally, he was found to possess two passports issued under different names, each with conflicting parental details and places of birth.

Further scrutiny revealed that he operated two separate bank accounts at the Union Bank of India under these different identities, raising serious concerns over his illegal financial maneuvers.

### Property Fraud Involving ₹40 Crore

In 1998, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor allocated a plot of land in Vasant Kunj to Sharada Peeth for constructing a math (religious institution). Chaitanyananda was appointed as the senior official of this math. However, in 2008, without any official permission, he renamed it to Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management and unlawfully rented out the property.

This unauthorized renaming and leasing led to a property fraud estimated at around ₹40 crore.

### Elusive Arrest After Previous Allegations

Chaitanyananda was finally arrested in the early hours at Hotel First in Taj Ganj, Agra, around 3:30 am. Notably, he had earlier escaped molestation charges in 2009 and 2016 by leveraging his influence.

Several complaints from students at the management institute revealed troubling misconduct. Some wardens reportedly introduced students to the Baba, who would then invite them to his room. He is alleged to have lured young women with promises of free foreign trips and secretly installed cameras in their hostel rooms to spy on them.

### Bogus Academic Credentials and Publications

Chaitanyananda also fabricated impressive academic qualifications. He claimed to possess an MBA and a PhD from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, along with post-doctoral degrees and honorary DLitt titles from various universities.

His authored books contained forewords attributed to Steve Jobs and messages of appreciation purportedly from Ban Ki-Moon. However, Delhi police suspect that these academic claims, along with the endorsements, are entirely fraudulent.

The arrest of Chaitanyananda Saraswati exposes a complex network of deceit involving sexual harassment, forged documents, property manipulation, and false academic credentials. The investigation continues as authorities work to bring all responsible individuals to justice.
