Amazon Fresh, the grocery division of Amazon India, has significantly expanded its footprint, now serving over 270 cities nationwide. This marks a remarkable increase from around 60 cities just two years ago.

### Strong Consumer Adoption and Growth

The rapid expansion has been accompanied by impressive consumer adoption. During the first two days of the ongoing Great Indian Festival sale, Amazon Fresh reported a remarkable 40% year-on-year (YoY) growth in sales value.

Srikant Sree Ram, Director at Amazon Fresh, expressed his enthusiasm about the company’s journey. “We were in only about 30 cities three years ago, and today we are in more than 270 cities,” he stated. He highlighted that consumers consistently appreciate the quality of fruits, vegetables, and other perishables available on Amazon Fresh, along with the significant savings they enjoy.

### Surge in Demand Across Categories

The festive season has triggered a notable surge in demand across several product categories. Key growth highlights during the initial days of the sale include:
– Dry fruits and nuts grew 21 times YoY
– Multivitamins increased 5 times
– Sports nutrition products saw a 4-fold rise
– Beauty products soared by 70%
– Niche categories like nail care recorded a 5x growth
– Gifting categories, particularly gift sets, experienced an impressive 12-fold increase

### Financial Impact and GST Reforms

The recent GST reforms that coincided with the Amazon Great Indian Festival sale have further driven festive sales. According to Sree Ram, consumers collectively saved crores of rupees. Over 260 crore INR was saved in just two days through purchases made with SBI debit and credit cards.

The company also observed a shift in consumer buying behavior, moving from monthly stocking to more frequent weekly shopping patterns.

### Strategic Growth and Farmer Partnerships

Amazon Fresh credits its 4.5x expansion to leveraging marketplace data and Prime member density to identify demand clusters. Moreover, the company has doubled its farmer base to 13,000 in the last two years, sourcing nearly 70% of fruits and vegetables from within a 200 km radius of customer locations, supporting local agriculture and ensuring freshness.

### Enhanced Service and Fulfillment

The product assortment has grown dramatically, with Amazon Fresh now offering over 40,000 products—up from just 3,000-4,000 items three years ago. Fulfillment is carried out through slotted deliveries in two-hour windows, covering at least 90% of pincodes in every city served.

In major metros like Bengaluru, Amazon Fresh operates over 20 fulfillment centers, while smaller cities are supported by at least one center, ensuring timely and reliable deliveries.

With its aggressive expansion and focus on quality, affordability, and convenience, Amazon Fresh continues to reshape the grocery shopping experience for millions across India.
