**PCB Suspends NOCs for Players Participating in Overseas T20 Leagues**

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the suspension of all No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players participating in overseas T20 leagues. This significant decision, confirmed by PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmad Syed on September 29, affects several top Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan.

### Background

Pakistani players have been prominent figures in various international T20 tournaments such as the Big Bash League and ILT20. However, following Pakistan’s recent defeat to India in the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup final, the PCB has taken a stringent stance on players’ participation in such leagues.

### The Suspension and Its Implications

The suspension of NOCs comes directly after the Asia Cup final, where Pakistan fell short despite having reduced India to 20/3 while defending a total of 146. The Men in Green lost only three matches throughout the tournament, all of which were to India.

The official PCB notice stated:
*”With the approval of Chairman PCB, all No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players with respect to participation in leagues and other out-of-country tournaments are hereby put on hold until further orders.”*

This move is widely interpreted as a response to the team’s performance in the tournament, signaling the board’s intention to reassess players’ priorities and commitments.

### Towards a Performance-Based NOC System

Reports indicate that the PCB plans to implement a performance-based system for granting NOCs in the future. Although the exact criteria remain undisclosed, this new approach aims to ensure that players meet specific performance standards before being allowed to participate in overseas leagues.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s premier domestic First-Class competition is scheduled to start in October, after being postponed from its original September 22 start date. The domestic season will likely play an important role in determining player eligibility for international T20 leagues moving forward.

### What’s Next?

Details regarding potential exemptions, the duration of the NOC suspension, and any further clarifications from the PCB are yet to be revealed. Cricket fans and players alike will be watching closely for updates on how this policy will impact Pakistan’s cricket landscape.
