The GST 2.0 regime, which came into effect on September 22, introduced significant changes by reducing tax slabs to 5% and 18%. This move was aimed at lowering consumer prices and providing relief to buyers across various sectors.
However, despite the reduction in tax rates, several e-commerce platforms have reportedly raised their prices instead of passing on the benefits to consumers. This unexpected price increase has drawn the attention of government authorities.
In response, over 3,000 complaints have been filed against these platforms. Officials are actively monitoring compliance to ensure adherence to the new tax structure and are reviewing cases for potential unfair trade practices. The government is committed to safeguarding consumer interests and maintaining fair market conditions under the GST 2.0 framework.
