*Published: October 6, 2025, 3:01 p.m. ET*

The 69-year-old man whom former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports host Mark Sanchez allegedly attacked has shared new details about their confrontation, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

According to court documents obtained by our media outlet, the man told police that when the dispute began in an alley between the Westin Hotel and the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown around 12:30 a.m. on October 4, he thought, “This guy is trying to kill me.”

**Incident at the Alley**

Minutes after the altercation, police were called to Loughmiller’s Pub and Eatery. Upon arrival, officers found Sanchez with multiple stab wounds on his upper torso, while the 69-year-old delivery driver had cuts on his face and was bleeding.

When Sanchez approached the man, he reportedly appeared intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. According to the probable cause affidavit, Sanchez told the man he had spoken with hotel management and that the delivery driver’s truck was not supposed to be parked there. When the worker called his supervisor, Sanchez allegedly blocked him and refused to leave.

Security footage captured Sanchez jogging into the alley, talking with the man, then climbing onto the driver’s side of the delivery truck. The two men circled the vehicle before the altercation turned physical.

**Man Claims Self-Defense Amid Attack**

The 69-year-old man said he used pepper spray to defend himself, but Sanchez “kept coming at him.” This led the man to pull out a knife and stab Sanchez multiple times in self-defense.

Investigators noted that video footage from a nearby hotel “closely matches” the man’s account of the incident. Additionally, a witness sitting in a nearby car reported seeing the two men “recording each other” on their phones before the fight. Later, the witness saw one man fall to the curb while the other ran through the alley.

Police recovered a knife from the driver’s side of the truck and obtained search warrants for Sanchez’s clothing and cellphone.

**Charges and Current Status of Mark Sanchez**

On October 5, Mark Sanchez was charged with battery resulting in injury, public intoxication, and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle. He was hospitalized due to his stab wounds and was arrested while receiving treatment. Sanchez has since been released on a $300 cash bond.

On October 6, one of the charges against Sanchez was upgraded to a level 5 felony, carrying a potential sentence of up to five years in prison. His next court hearing is scheduled for October 7 at 8:30 a.m.
