Mercedes-Benz has reintroduced the diesel engine option for its iconic G-Class off-roader in India after a year-long hiatus. The all-new G 450d variant is priced at ₹2.9 crore (ex-showroom) and features the most powerful diesel engine in Mercedes’s global portfolio. With the addition of this model, the G-Class lineup in India now offers petrol, diesel, and electric variants.
**Engine Specifications**
The Mercedes-Benz G 450d is powered by a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel engine equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology. It delivers an impressive maximum power of 367 hp and peak torque of up to 750 Nm. The integrated starter generator adds an extra boost of up to 20 hp when required.
Performance-wise, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just under six seconds and reaches a top speed of approximately 210 km/h.
**Off-Road Capabilities**
Built for rugged terrains, the G 450d offers a ground clearance of up to 241 mm and a water fording depth of up to 700 mm. It boasts approach, breakover, and departure angles of up to 31 degrees, ensuring excellent off-road maneuverability. Additionally, the vehicle remains stable on side slopes of up to 35 degrees.

**Safety and Assistance Features**
Safety is paramount in the G 450d, which comes equipped with a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite. Key features include active brake assist, lane-keeping assist, and a 360-degree camera, all aimed at providing a safer and more comfortable driving experience.
