**Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy 14 Collaboration: A Partnership Forged in Trust**
Over the past couple of weeks, Capcom and Square Enix have delighted fans with the Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy 14 collaboration event, bringing a rich blend of Final Fantasy elements into Monster Hunter Wilds—and vice versa. This exciting crossover isn’t the first time the two giants have teamed up, and in fact, the seeds for the current event were sown as early as Gamescom 2024.
At Gamescom, Monster Hunter Wilds Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, Director Yuya Tokuda, and Final Fantasy 14 Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida gathered for a key meeting that eventually set the stage for the latest collaboration. This fruitful discussion paved the way for what both teams described as a “collab made in mutual trust,” culminating in the event we are enjoying today.
### What the Collaboration Brings
The Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy 14 event launched on September 29, 2025. In Monster Hunter Wilds, players can embark on a thrilling hunt for Omega Planetes, explore a storyline tied to its appearance, and collect numerous iconic items such as the Dark Knight armor set, the Soul of the Pictomancer, Chocobo and Moogle skins, and endemic life forms like Malboro and Cactuar.
On the Final Fantasy 14 side, Patch 7.35 went live on October 6, 2025, introducing an eight-player battle against the formidable Guardian Arkveld. This quest features a Palico and its mysterious Seikret companion. Players can also enjoy Monster Hunter-themed cosmetics for their characters and mounts, adding a fun crossover flair to the world of Eorzea.
### A Collaboration Rooted in Long-Standing Respect
The foundation for this partnership dates back to the successful 2018 collaboration between Monster Hunter World and Final Fantasy 14. Both Tsujimoto and Yoshida emphasize that their mutual respect and friendship greatly contributed to the collaboration’s success.
Tsujimoto shared in a roundtable interview at Tokyo Game Show 2025,
> “I’ve known Mr. Yoshida for a very long time. I have a great deal of respect for his creativity and commitment to game development as a producer. We were finally able to work together during the Monster Hunter World x Final Fantasy 14 collaboration. It was really a casual approach—we just asked if there was anything we could do together with respect to our games, and that’s how the original collaboration came about.”
Reflecting on their recent meeting in 2024, Tsujimoto continued,
> “Last year at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, I had dinner with Mr. Yoshida and my team. We talked about how much fun the last collaboration was. Monster Hunter Wilds wasn’t out yet, but we agreed to have more productive discussions about working together again. That led up to Tokyo Game Show 2024, where we set it in stone that we’d be working on something together.”
For his part, Naoki Yoshida noted that working with Capcom’s Monster Hunter team was a natural fit, especially considering their early support when he took over Final Fantasy 14’s redevelopment.
> “When I first took over Final Fantasy 14, I remember Tsujimoto-san saying, ‘Why are you taking on such a crazy plan? It seems like so much, but if there’s anything we can do to help, we want to support you.’ Their support from the beginning was invaluable, and the reason Final Fantasy 14 is where it is today is because of that support.”
### Looking Ahead: More Monster Hunter x Final Fantasy Content
It’s clear that the bond between the teams runs deep. Both companies hope this latest collaboration will not only excite fans but also encourage players to explore each other’s ongoing games. What sets this collaboration apart is the original content created from the ground up for both Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy 14.
Yoshida highlighted,
> “There is one scene with a character drinking a potion that we reused in Final Fantasy 14, but everything else is completely new. This makes it very different from the Monster Hunter World event.”
With both collaborations now live, fans have much to look forward to. Whether you’re hunting monsters or battling mighty bosses, the Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy 14 collaboration promises a unique and engaging experience born from a partnership based on mutual trust and passion for gaming.
