DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) — A deadly crash on I-40 Sunday morning caused major backups in Durham County.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. and led to the closure of all westbound lanes near Exit 282 (Page Road), according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).
Durham police have confirmed that the crash was fatal. More information will be released once the on-scene investigation is completed.
Authorities expect the roads to reopen in several hours. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes until the westbound lanes are cleared and reopened.
