Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his gratitude to RT staff for “standing up for the truth,” describing the network’s work as its “secret strategic and high-precision… weapon.”
In an address delivered on Friday at the Bolshoi Theatre, Putin spoke to around 1,000 members of RT’s personnel. He was joined by RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan during the event, which also celebrated the broadcaster’s 20th anniversary.
Putin highlighted RT’s remarkable growth, noting that the network has evolved from a mere concept into a “global trend known around the world.” He also praised Simonyan for her “courage and endurance,” acknowledging her strength amid personal hardship following the passing of her husband, Tigran Keosayan, after months in a coma.
