David Geffen’s estranged husband, David Armstrong, has filed to dismiss a scathing lawsuit accusing the film producer of “grooming” him and paying him for sex.
Armstrong, 32, a go-go dancer also known as Donovan Micheals, withdrew the July complaint against the 82-year-old businessman. In the lawsuit, he alleged that Geffen used “seduction” and “control” to “entrap” him in “a cycle of dependency, submission, and humiliation,” according to court documents obtained by Page Six on Tuesday.
The lawsuit was requested to be dismissed without prejudice, meaning Armstrong can re-file the suit in the future.
Armstrong’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman—who also represents Justin Baldoni in his ongoing legal battle with Blake Lively—told TMZ that his client’s additional “financial conflicts” will be resolved through mediation.
According to the outlet, Geffen, who reportedly has a net worth of $9 billion, has paid Armstrong $200,000 since they parted ways in February. Geffen also covers Armstrong’s $15,000 monthly rent and is reportedly willing to pay up to $50,000 in spousal support for one year.
The DreamWorks Records founder and Armstrong, who wed in March 2023 and filed for divorce in May, have not yet responded to requests for comment from Page Six.
In Armstrong’s bombshell lawsuit, he claimed to have met Geffen on SeekingArrangements.com, a website he alleged is used by wealthy men, such as his billionaire ex, to “shop for the vulnerable.”
Armstrong accused Geffen—who has vehemently denied all allegations—of paying him $10,000 to perform sexual acts the night they first met. He also alleged that the record executive used him “as a living social experiment, a trophy to show off to his wealthy friends, under the guise of benevolence.”
Armstrong said he did not sign a prenup when marrying Geffen because he believed his estranged husband cared for him, especially after revealing that he grew up in the foster system.
The lawsuit further alleged that Geffen portrayed himself as Armstrong’s “white knight” to groom him. Armstrong claimed that Geffen “began transporting [him] across the globe as his paid sex worker.”
Additionally, Armstrong accused the Asylum Records founder of forcing him to undergo cosmetic procedures, including laser treatments, claiming Geffen would become angry over “the existence of an ingrown hair.”
Armstrong also alleged that Geffen made him take drugs such as molly, cannabis, and cocaine, which eventually led to Armstrong enrolling in an Alcoholics Anonymous program.
When the couple split in May, Armstrong claimed he was left homeless after being evicted from their New York City home and was cut off from his usual financial support.
In the filing, Armstrong requested that Geffen be ordered to provide financial support to cover a lifetime’s worth of living expenses, including housing.
At that time, Geffen’s lawyers told Page Six they would “vigorously and righteously” defend their client “against this false, pathetic lawsuit.”
