News anchor Liz Nagy trades cold Chicago weather for sunny SoCal, joins ABC7 Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A familiar face has officially joined Eyewitness News as its newest anchor — welcome Liz Nagy!

Liz comes to us from our Chicago sister station, WLS, but she has been to Southern California before, helping ABC7 cover the devastating wildfires back in January.

Jory Rand: “In addition to our fire coverage, did you learn anything about the people of L.A. you maybe didn’t know before?”

Liz: “It was something that affected two very different communities, but everybody here seemed to embrace all of that and really come together.”

One of the things she’s most looking forward to is the weather. “Loving the sunshine. I got out just in time, right when the weather was starting to change. I was like that’s it! We’re going west!”

Now that she’s here, Liz says she’s excited to cover all the stories that make Southern California unique, including police pursuits, our politics, and Hollywood.

One of her most fun memories includes the time she participated on “Dancing with Chicago Celebrities.” But will she bring out her ballroom shoes again?

“I’m too embarrassed to go back and watch it in its entirety, but I feel like I’m counting the entire time. I’d much rather do a live shot, speak off the cuff, spend 8 hours sitting on this desk anchoring coverage than dance, especially in public,” Liz said jokingly. “Covering ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ I am in awe of it. I would absolutely love that, being one, doing it, absolutely not.”
