The Fallout series has existed for almost three decades. Throughout these nearly 30 years, Fallout has spent all of its time within the borders of the United States. With Fallout Day this year, we wanted to think about where the franchise should go next. Should it explore another state within the USA, or maybe venture to a different country entirely?
### Shack Chat: Where Should the Fallout Franchise Go Next?
#### Canada/Alaska
**TJ Denzer, Wants a Frostier Fallout**
Almost every Fallout game has taken place in the southern United States (with the exception of Fallout 3, which included an excursion to Pittsburgh). But I’m ready for a far frostier Fallout.
Throughout the series, we often hear about how an invasion of Alaska was one of the starting points of the US/China war that erupted into nuclear conflict and scorched the world. The only actual glimpse into that part of the lore we’ve ever received was the simulation in Fallout 3’s Operation: Anchorage.
So, I’d like to explore the northern end of North America in a Fallout game. What’s going on in Canada? What does Alaska look like after that initial invasion? Don’t just tell me—show me.
#### Northeast Ohio
**Asif Khan, Avid Weather Reporter**
Fallout 76 has expanded into Southeastern Ohio, but I think it’s time to take a trip up what remains of I-77.
Relics such as the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Cleveland Browns Stadium, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would all be fantastic areas to recreate in the post-apocalyptic universe of Fallout.
#### Antarctica
**Sam Chandler, The Terror**
My first thought was that I’d like to see Australia in the next Fallout game. However, after watching Mad Max, I’m not sure how different a Fallout experience would be (though I’d still love to see Aussie culture in a Fallout world).
What I haven’t seen much of, though, is a harsh environment like the polar caps in a post-nuclear fallout world. Would all the ice and snow be melted away? What secrets lie beneath the snow? Have prehistoric creatures thawed out?
Antarctica is also a location steeped in geopolitics, with many countries laying claims to its regions. It’s a veritable boiling pot of ideologies. Imagine the strange Vault-Tec vaults that could have been built there! What weird and wacky experiments might have been running in Antarctica?
#### London
**Donovan Erskine, Went There Once**
London and all its gorgeous iconography would be perfect for Fallout. My mind immediately goes to *28 Days Later* as a blueprint for what a post-apocalyptic, worn-down London could look like.
Mix in some Power Armor, Deathclaws, and a bunch of factions, and you could have a fantastic Fallout game.
Yes, I know a fan mod exists, but I’d still prefer a game made from the ground up by Bethesda.
#### Northeast United States
**Steve Tyminski, My Neck of the Woods**
Where should the next Fallout game take place? I’m going with the Northeast United States for this one.
Imagine a Fallout game set in New Jersey and/or New York, featuring iconic locations like the George Washington Bridge, the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. There could be plenty of places to start building your Fallout shelter and many groups with differing opinions about life after the war.
The Northeast experiences both very hot and very cold weather, so it would offer diverse and challenging environments. It would be fascinating to see what a Fallout game would look like in my neck of the woods—the New Jersey/New York area.

Those are the locations we think Fallout should explore next as a franchise. Would you like to see the Vault Dweller visit a new state in the USA, or do you think it’s time to explore how the rest of the world is faring?
