Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was added to the injury report with an illness on Sunday morning, but he showed no signs of trouble on the field later that day.
Tagovailoa threw four touchdowns while wearing a visor in Miami’s 34-10 rout of the Falcons. He chose to wear the visor after noticing something was wrong with his left eye upon waking up that morning.
“Probably one of the worst experiences I’ve had in terms of waking up and that happens on a game day,” Tagovailoa said during his postgame press conference. “My eye was swollen shut. Thanks to the medical staff, they ended up helping with antibiotics and whatnot. I’m just glad I was able to go out there and play.”
Tagovailoa and the medical staff plan to investigate the cause of the eye reaction once they return to Miami. Given how well he performed despite the setback, there is speculation that he might continue wearing the visor for Thursday night’s game against the Ravens—especially after two weeks that had fans wondering if he might be benched.
