All Escape the Backrooms endings and how to get them

all escape the backrooms endings and how to get them

We can now safely say that Level The End is far from being the final challenge in *Escape the Backrooms*. If you want to unlock all the endings in this co-op adventure, then stock up on Almond Water and prepare for a lot of running. There are multiple endings to achieve, and most of them don’t have a happy conclusion.

Surprisingly, the 1.0 update for *Escape the Backrooms*, released on October 23, 2025, didn’t add any new monsters and repeats quite a bit of content we’ve seen before. However, it does introduce new endings and lore that beautifully tie into everything we’ve spent hours playing through across every major update.

### Escape the Backrooms: Endings Guide

There are five endings in *Escape the Backrooms*. Four of these are brand new, either hidden inside levels you’ve encountered during early access or included in content beyond Level 3999.

#### WRONG DOOR Ending

This is the default ending, and one most players should have seen before, as it was the only ending available during early access. This ending occurs by playing through all Backrooms levels available in Story Mode order and takes place in Level 55.1.

There isn’t a specific order required to unlock the alternate endings, as the game transports you to the Bunker—an area seemingly inaccessible from any previously visited level.

The Wrong Door ending shows that all our hard work was in vain as we plummet toward the ground. Yes, we’ve escaped, but the cost is far too high. The last thing we see is the town below growing nearer and nearer as we fall back down to reality.

#### EMPTY CITY Ending

This ending is found in one of the new levels called Grassrooms. You can enter this secret level by unlocking the M.E.G. door in the Bunker after beating the game at least once.

To access the Grassrooms, complete the Overgrowth level. Simply finish this level and reach the elevator—which takes you down to the 11th floor—where you’ll walk out into an empty city. This implies you’re still trapped in the Backrooms.

Liminal space just got a lot bigger in Level 11.

#### THE SUBURBS Ending

To unlock this ending, return to the Hub and enter Level 1 (Habitable Zone). Head upstairs and find the M.E.G. door. Use your ID card to access it.

This will transport you directly to Level 92233, where you need to climb to floor 94 and jump off. Falling to the very bottom activates The Suburbs ending.

You awaken in a hospital bed, looking out the window, hoping you’ve returned to reality. However, outside is the world of Level 94—endless hills, each topped with a single yellow house, and waves of green grass. You realize that when the sun sets, you’ll have to spend every waking minute hiding in terror from the monsters that come out at night.

#### THE PINK HOUSE Ending

Head back to the Hub and enter Level 6 (Lights Out). Use the Lidar machine to complete this level, but don’t proceed to the next one.

Instead, use your ID on the M.E.G. door to unlock another pitch-black maze. Navigate this maze with the Lidar machine once more, eventually finding the Pink House on the other side.

Complete this section by finding 12 teddy bear toys scattered throughout the map. These toys are randomly generated every time you play.

You aren’t the first person to end up here. This ending concludes with you becoming the new resident of the Pink House, where the level’s entity watches over you, ensuring you can never leave this place.

#### FINAL ESCAPE Ending

To achieve the Final Escape ending, you must first unlock all four other endings.

After waking up for the fourth and final time near the Bunker elevator, press the Level 3999 button inside. This will take you to a secret area of the arcade, where you can interact with a mysterious game named after this level and start playing.

Activating this triggers the final ending, during which Fancy (the game developer) speaks to you. This is the best ending in the game, as you have finally escaped the Backrooms and returned to reality unscathed—implying that the entire experience took place inside an arcade game.

Prepare yourself, stock up, and good luck exploring all the secrets and endings in *Escape the Backrooms*!
