The new AI accelerator chips and racks, named AI200 and AI250, aim to deliver a significant boost in computing power.
According to Qualcomm’s press release, the AI200 and AI250 chip stacks represent an upgraded scale of AI computing performance within Qualcomm’s hardware lineup. The AI200 is scheduled to be available to customers in 2026, marking the company’s first offering in this new era of AI technology. Following that, the AI250 is set for release in 2027 and is designed to build upon the AI200 with a major leap in compute capacity and efficiency.
Qualcomm is best known for its mobile chips and system-on-chips (SoCs), which power a wide range of small electronic devices including smartphones, VR headsets, and laptop PCs. Notably, Qualcomm’s chips have been used in devices such as the Meta Quest 3 VR headset. Beyond consumer electronics, the company is also involved in other ventures, including a collaboration with BMW to develop a new automated driving system.
