Ex-WWE writer Vince Russo has expressed a bold opinion about the current state of WWE, stating that longtime backstage veterans need to leave the company for things to improve. Speaking on the latest episode of *BroDown* with host Mac Davis, Russo didn’t hold back when discussing WWE’s creative stagnation.

According to Russo, the creative direction of WWE is being held back by four key figures: Triple H, Paul Heyman, Michael P. S. Hayes, and Bruce Prichard. He referred to them as the “good old boys” whose continued presence prevents progress within the company.

> “You need to get rid of the entire level of the ‘good old boys’. I don’t give a s**t what you say. Hunter [Triple H] needs to go, [Paul] Heyman needs to go, [Michael] Hayes needs to go, [Bruce] Prichard needs to go, because as long as they’re still there, you’ll get your old school wrestling BS. They need an absolute new way of thinking, and those four guys you’re never going to move forward with those four guys. That is my opinion.”

### Vince Russo’s Previous Defense of Bruce Prichard

Interestingly, Vince Russo has previously defended Bruce Prichard, one of the backstage names he calls to be removed. On an earlier installment of *Writing with Russo*, Russo was asked about issues in WWE’s creative process, with Bruce Prichard’s name coming up.

For context, Bruce Prichard has served as Vince McMahon’s trusted aide for many years and remains an influential backstage figure.

Russo praised Prichard’s honesty and integrity, even when criticizing his own creative work:

> “I could tell you this about Bruce [Prichard] without a shadow of a doubt. Even when it was Bruce writing Bruce and Vince [McMahon], Bruce and [Jim], Bruce and Pat [Patterson], I can’t tell you how many times Bruce wrote the show, sat in gorilla [position], and heard him say, ‘That was the drizzling s**ts.’ I’ve heard him say that a million times about the stuff his name was on. I never ever heard Bruce Prichard put something over that sucked. I’m being totally honest, even if it was his work. Bruce is not that guy.”

### Bruce Prichard’s Role and Influence in WWE

Bruce Prichard has faced criticism largely due to his close association with Vince McMahon. Former WrestleMania headliner Ronda Rousey once stated that as long as Prichard is with WWE, he acts as McMahon’s proxy voice. While there is no concrete evidence to support this claim, it is undeniable that Prichard holds tremendous influence, given his multiple tenures and prominent backstage role within WWE.

Vince Russo’s views shed light on the backstage dynamics many fans and insiders debate about regarding WWE’s creative direction. Whether WWE responds by making significant changes remains to be seen.
