While the most recent season updates for *Apex Legends* have brought exciting additions, sometimes it’s time for change. For Season 27, titled **Amped**, Respawn Entertainment is taking a sledgehammer to the old Olympus map and updating it to usher in an exciting new meta. But that’s not all players can expect.
The Olympus map originally debuted way back in Season 7, during a time when Apex Legends — along with the rest of the world — was navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Designed as a sky-high map, Olympus captured players’ imaginations with its unique aerial layout. Now, five years after its arrival, Respawn is ready to inject fresh excitement and mechanics into its design.
### Olympus: From Chaos to Revival
For those unfamiliar with *Apex Legends* lore, chaos struck Olympus after it collided with the Stasis Net on Broken Moon, disappearing in Season 20. The city was later discovered buried in the snowy tundra of Pagos and restored to working condition.
Players can look forward to exploring four brand-new points of interest (POIs) across the map:
– **Somers University:** Built by Horizon as a replacement for the old Orbital Cannon, Somers University offers a more approachable exterior, additional cover spots, and a triangular layout. The Orbital Cannon was often less enjoyable in early and late game stages, making this a welcome change.
– **The Gravity Engine:** This replaces the former Energy Depot and is the source of what keeps Olympus afloat. It features numerous lifts and zip rails to enhance vertical movement and dynamic combat scenarios.
– **The Stabilizer:** Taking the place of the former Docks, the Stabilizer keeps Olympus aligned. Its platform-style design can lead to intense, high-stakes encounters.
– **The Dockyhard:** Located near Hydroponics, the Dockyhard combines some classic Olympus elements with new vertical features, providing varied team fight opportunities.
### Legend Reworks: Horizon, Valkyrie, and Rampart
With the spotlight on Olympus, it’s fitting that Horizon receives a series of buffs. While nerfs were considered, Respawn decided to focus on enhancing fun gameplay instead. Players will gain new movement tools as they accumulate upgrades during sessions, giving Horizon an edge in vertical battles. Additionally, her Gravity Lift Tactical now boasts a shorter cooldown, and her Black Hole Ultimate has been granted extra health.
Valkyrie, once the undisputed master of aerial combat, has seen the competition catch up. To address this, Respawn has made several adjustments: her VTOL Jets now provide increased speed boosts, while her Skyward Dive Ultimate benefits from a shorter takeoff time. Her Missile Swarm Tactical has been enhanced to scan enemies upon contact and no longer inflicts self-damage. New upgrades also modify her missile patterns, reduce fuel consumption, and further cut down the Skyward Dive takeoff time.
Rampart’s defensive capabilities are also stepping up. Her Amped Cover Tactical now offers walls with greater health, speed boosts, and even a roof as players level up during sessions. Additional upgrades grant benefits like regenerating health and infinite ammo when taking cover behind Amped Cover. Although this might suggest Rampart will lean more defensive, Respawn emphasizes that these buffs encourage her to stay mobile so her squad can share the advantages.
### Weapon and Movement Updates
Several weapons are set to receive changes, most notably the **Alternator**. It will gain the **Double Tap Hop Up**, allowing players to fire both barrels simultaneously for significantly increased damage—enough to secure close-range kills outright.
Movement options receive a boost as well. An improved **Mantle Boost** amplifies player momentum, making traversing the map faster and smoother. A new visual indicator will provide cues, helping players execute this move with greater precision.
### Olympus Comes to Wildcard Mode
Olympus won’t be limited to the core Battle Royale mode. The new **Wildcard** mode, introduced last season, will feature Olympus for the first time. This iteration includes extra ziplines, gravity cannons, and other enhancements designed to keep matches fast-paced.
Players can experience Olympus in Wildcard during the **Supersonic Event**, running from November 18 to December 16.
