Breaking Bad Creator Reveals Whether Another Spin-off Could Happen

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are two of the most popular television shows in history. Recently, creator Vince Gilligan opened up about the possibility of another spin-off or reboot of Breaking Bad.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about his new upcoming show, Apple TV’s *Pluribus*, Gilligan was asked about the potential for a new Breaking Bad spin-off. He joked that THR’s idea—which focused on a tape the Mexican cartel made of Jesse Pinkman cooking meth using Walter White’s recipe making its way to someone—was a good one. He added that there were “a lot” of ways to reboot the show.

“There’s a lot of ways to reboot *Breaking Bad* and even build shows around characters from *Better Call Saul*,” Gilligan said. “We worked with such a murderer’s row of actors on both shows. I was so blessed to work with these amazing actors. Pretty much any of the major players from either show could carry their own TV show.”

He also praised the talented cast of *El Camino*, the Breaking Bad sequel film. “The two Scotts, [MacArthur and Shepherd], God, those guys are good. And, of course, there’s Jesse Plemons, who everyone in the world knows now. That guy went through the roof, and deservedly so.”

However, when it comes to actually creating another entry in the series or spinning it off, Gilligan expressed hesitation. He said he’d rather disappoint fans by not making more than disappoint them by producing something that doesn’t live up to expectations.

“So never say never, but I’ve done 20 years of *Breaking Bad* and *Better Call Saul*. I’m not tired of it. I’m not worn out on it,” Gilligan explained. “But I am ready for a hero, for a change, instead of a villain or an anti-hero.”

He continued, “The other thing is I live in fear of messing up people’s memories of both shows. I’d rather leave a little money on the table, a little desire on the table, a little want for new *Breaking Bad* stories.”

“I don’t want to disappoint anyone, but I’d rather disappoint folks by not giving them any more *Breaking Bad* than have them say, ‘Okay, man, that was a really great multi-course meal, but that last serving in the dessert bowl was dog shit. Now I’ve got a bad taste in my mouth, and that’s all I remember now.’ So I don’t want to do that. I really don’t want to do that.”

In summary, while Vince Gilligan acknowledges the vast potential for additional Breaking Bad content, he remains cautious. For now, fans will have to wait and see if any new stories set in that world will ever come to life.
