Games Done Quick has grown beyond its two biannual mainline marathons. In addition to its regular Hotfix shows, Games Done Quick has expanded to include two week-long Fatales marathons, a weekend TwitchCon marathon, and celebrations of Black speedrunners with Black in a Flash.

This weekend, for the first time, GDQ will be looking out for its LGBTQIA+ community with Games Done Queer, a weekend marathon celebrating queer runners across the gaming space. To learn more, I spoke with Rae “Raeclun” Brusky prior to the start of the event. Brusky discusses the formation of Games Done Queer, what led to its creation, the collaboration with Lambda Legal, and the crucial timing of this marathon weekend.

He also highlights some of the runs to look forward to over the next few days and shares the excitement surrounding the weekend’s final run, which spotlights the Kaizo Mario community.

Games Done Quick is coming off some exciting marathon wins. Most recently, the team participated in TwitchCon for Games Done Quick Express, raising $31,076 for World Central Kitchen. Prior to that, the women and femmes of GDQ held Flame Fatales, raising $151,336 for Malala Fund.

Of course, the mainline GDQ marathon events continue to stand out. Summer Games Done Quick 2025 raised over $2.4 million for Doctors Without Borders, showcasing the community’s commitment to making a positive impact through gaming.
