Battlefield 6 REDSEC Mode Guide

Battlefield 6 introduces a new free-to-play battle royale mode called REDSEC. This mode offers a thrilling experience featuring multiple game variants, weapon rarity tiers, optional missions, and a classic encroaching ring of fire that forces players into increasingly smaller areas of the map.

There’s a lot to learn about REDSEC, so this guide will walk you through general tips, how to play, weapon mechanics, reviving, missions, and more.

What is REDSEC?

REDSEC is a battle royale mode set within Battlefield 6 where players drop into a large map, scavenge for weapons and gear, complete optional missions for powerful rewards, and battle other players. All the while, a dangerous ring of fire closes in to force encounters. The last player or team standing wins the match.

After selecting REDSEC, you choose from three core versions:

  • Gauntlet: Focuses on completing specific objectives. Successfully finish your missions to survive while being the last player or team alive.
  • Duos: Classic battle royale mode with two-player teams. Features 50 teams total.
  • Squads: Teams of four players, with 25 teams battling for survival.

What Should I Do First in REDSEC?

Your primary goal in REDSEC is straightforward: be the last person or team alive. Every decision you make should move you closer to this objective. Here are some basic steps to get started:

  1. Land in a low-traffic area. Aim for locations where few or no other teams drop to reduce early conflict.
  2. Loot crates and containers. Gather weapons, grenades, airstrikes, and gear to prepare for battle.
  3. Select and complete optional missions. These provide valuable rewards and powerful gear to give you an edge.
  4. Stay ahead of the encroaching fire. Move toward the center of the next safe circle to avoid damage.
  5. Engage or evade other players. Choose your fights wisely; sometimes fleeing is better than confrontation.

The safe circle will shrink repeatedly until the playable area is tiny—just enough space for the final teams to clash. Use this time to upgrade your loadout and position yourself advantageously.

How Weapons and Gear Work in REDSEC

You start each REDSEC match with only a pistol and a knife. Immediately after landing, the race is on to find better weapons that suit your playstyle and class.

Weapons are graded by rarity and upgrade level, indicated by colors:

  • Common (Gray)
  • Uncommon (Green)
  • Rare (Blue)
  • Advanced (Purple)
  • Superior (Gold)
  • Personal Favorite (Red)

The more attachments a weapon has, the higher its rarity and performance. You can upgrade weapons you find by searching weapon containers such as crates, cases, and safes — commonly found on the ground and in vehicles.

Keep in mind: choosing weapons that complement your class’s strengths will improve your effectiveness. For example, an Assault class player won’t benefit much from a long-range sniper rifle.

What Are Red Guns?

Red guns represent your personal favorite weapon loadouts — those you have customized outside of matches with attachments and upgrades. These are the same weapons you use in Battlefield 6’s main multiplayer mode.

Red weapons appear in-game via Custom Weapon Drops that look like missile-like droppods sticking out from the ground. Interacting with one lets you select any favorite weapon you’ve marked.

The effectiveness of red guns varies based on how fully upgraded they are; sometimes they outperform gold or purple weapons, and other times not. Use them to tailor your strategy.

What Class Should I Play in REDSEC?

As in Battlefield 6, REDSEC lets you pick from multiple classes, each with unique abilities, tools, and weapon proficiencies. For instance, the Engineer starts with a blowtorch handy for cracking open safes during missions.

For squad play, ideally, have a balanced team with different classes to cover a range of capabilities.

How Does Reviving Work in REDSEC?

When you lose all your armor and health, you’ll fall to the ground and enter a downed state. You can crawl to a safe spot while a teammate attempts to revive you. A timer counts down during this phase, and if it reaches zero, you die outright. Enemies can also finish you off by continuing to shoot.

Early in the match, REDSEC offers a forgiving revive system called Second Chances. If you die during this period, you can parachute back into the fight and rejoin your squad.

As the match progresses, all players will be notified when Second Chances expire. After that point, revival requires visiting a redeploy point to bring downed teammates back—this process triggers a loud respawn alarm and takes time, making it risky.

What Are Missions in REDSEC?

Every few minutes, players receive optional missions to choose from. Completing these missions rewards you with valuable airdrops containing superior weapons, equipment like airstrikes, or keycards that can grant access to powerful vehicles such as tanks.

Missions may involve traveling to specific locations, destroying targets, transporting items, or transmitting data. Some objectives require direct player-versus-player (PvP) engagements.

Final Tips

  • Always be mindful of the shrinking safe zone and plan your movement accordingly.
  • Customize your red weapons ahead of time to suit your playstyle.
  • Working with your squad and leveraging class abilities increases your survival chances.
  • Don’t hesitate to skip fights early on if it keeps you safe and better equipped.
  • Use missions strategically to acquire advanced gear and turn the tide of the battle.

Happy hunting in REDSEC — may the last team standing be yours!
