This week has been a hectic one for Rockstar Games, as the developer faces a wave of accusations related to union busting following the layoffs of up to 40 employees.

Rockstar has maintained that these layoffs were due to gross misconduct and the leakage of confidential materials. However, the IWGB union organization insists that the real motivation was to break up union activity within the company. In response, the IWGB launched protests at Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive’s London offices, demanding that the affected workers be reinstated.

The IWGB shared updates about the protests on its social media channels throughout the week. The group assembled at Take-Two’s UK offices to demonstrate against what they described as alleged attempts to disrupt union organization. “We’re fighting back,” the IWGB wrote. “IWGB organized a protest in front of the Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive in London today. We’ll make sure the credits are rolling on their corporate greed.”

Recently, Rockstar responded to the allegations of union busting linked to the employee firings. While the company initially cited “gross misconduct” as the reason for the terminations, those employees were also reportedly involved in organizing union activity within Rockstar Games.

The IWGB remains firm in its assertion that Rockstar’s true priority was to disrupt and dissolve union efforts inside the studio. In response, Rockstar expanded on its explanation in a new statement, claiming that the employees involved were caught inappropriately distributing confidential company materials via a Discord server.

As this situation develops, both parties continue to stand their ground, with union supporters pushing for reinstatement and corporate representatives emphasizing the importance of confidentiality and conduct policies.
