Donald Trump NFL stadium ‘will probably happen’

news inauguration: donald trump 2025 presidential inauguration

The Washington Commanders are working to build a new stadium, and it sounds like there is a good chance it will be named after United States President Donald Trump.

According to a report from ESPN, Donald Trump wants the Washington Commanders to name their new $3.7 billion stadium after him. ESPN reports there have been “back-channel communications” between the White House and a member of the Commanders’ ownership group about the possibility of naming the new stadium after the current president.

The White House hasn’t directly confirmed the report, but they certainly didn’t deny it was a possibility, either. Though Leavitt declined to officially confirm the report, an anonymous senior White House official told ESPN that the new stadium would likely end up bearing Trump’s name.

“It’s what the president wants, and it will probably happen,” the source told ESPN.

The source also mentioned that Trump “has plenty of leverage” to make sure things go his way, regardless of who holds the final authority. “He has cards to play. He can make it very difficult, through government environmental approvals and other things, to make sure everyone who wants this stadium to be built will join to put his name on it,” the source said. “Trump has plenty of cards to play to get his way.”

Needless to say, it seems there’s a strong chance that Trump will have a new property named after him at some point in the near future.
