**McClymonds Shuts Down Oakland’s Air Raid Offense in Dominant 39-6 Victory**

Led by junior quarterback Colvin Leonox, Oakland has become known for an air raid offense that can rack up points quickly. However, on Friday night, McClymonds turned the Mack House into a no-fly zone.

Behind senior Prince Staten’s two interceptions, McClymonds (8-2, 5-0) recorded five interceptions and four sacks in a decisive 39-6 victory over Oakland, finishing the regular season with six consecutive victories.

“It took us a minute to get started,” said McClymonds head coach Michael Peters. “Right now, our ball club starts off slow. Their quarterback is great — I love him. He gets the ball out fast. But we wore them down.”

Oakland head coach Terry Hendrix Jr. felt the final score didn’t fully reflect the game. “The ill-advised interceptions, the pass interference, the callbacks — just different things. We had opportunities within the game to make it a better contest, and we didn’t.”

Along with Staten’s two picks, sophomore Jessie King Jr., senior Dominic Davis, and senior Lamont Williams each added an interception. King and Davis left their marks offensively as well. Davis tallied two touchdowns and rushed for 239 yards on 23 carries, including a 51-yard touchdown run. King hauled in a 29-yard touchdown reception from senior quarterback Berell Staples.

Senior Keian Davis-Jimenez also scored twice and rushed for 91 yards on just four carries. During McClymonds’ final offensive possession, Davis-Jimenez broke off runs of 51 and 24 yards on back-to-back plays, putting the exclamation point on a commanding victory. Staples contributed a rushing touchdown in addition to his passing touchdown.

Oakland’s only points came from Jermaine Benson, who electrified the crowd with an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown late in the first half. McClymonds opened the scoring with the first 12 points on Staples’ 29-yard touchdown pass to King in the first quarter and Davis’ one-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter.

Michael and Marcus Peters’ defense effectively contained Oakland’s offense throughout the game. Benson’s kickoff return narrowed McClymonds’ lead to 12-6, allowing Oakland to enter halftime trailing by just one possession.

However, McClymonds dominated the second half, scoring 27 unanswered points and putting the game out of reach by the start of the fourth quarter. Staten’s interception with nine minutes remaining in the third quarter set the stage for Davis-Jimenez’s first rushing touchdown, solidifying McClymonds’ advantage.

“We couldn’t execute tonight,” Hendrix said. “Sometimes the lights can be too big, too bright for certain kids. We’re still young. We had several opportunities during the flow of the game to make it competitive and keep the door open, but we didn’t. We didn’t execute. It came down to playing catch, tackling, and playing high-percentage football — and we didn’t do it tonight.”
