“Trailer Park Boys” Star Mike Smith Charged with Sexual Assault, Steps Back from Media Company

Mike Smith, best known for his role as the quirky “Bubbles” in the Canadian cult-classic mockumentary *Trailer Park Boys*, has been charged with sexual assault, according to a recent report by CBC. The 53-year-old actor faces charges filed in Nova Scotia Provincial Court on October 2. The alleged incident occurred in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, on December 30, 2017.

Trailer Park Boys Inc. issued a statement acknowledging the allegation: “We are aware of the allegation concerning Mike Smith dating back to 2017 and take such matters seriously. We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case.”

Details surrounding the alleged assault have not been released publicly, according to court documents. However, Smith was ordered not to communicate with or visit the alleged victim’s home, workplace, or school.

In response to the charges, Smith has stepped down from his position as managing director at Trailer Park Boys Inc. Smith has been a pillar of the show’s main trio alongside Robb Wells and John Paul Tremblay since the series began in 2001. Additionally, he purchased the franchise’s rights in 2013.

Filming for the 13th season of *Trailer Park Boys* wrapped up in August and is scheduled to air in 2026, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the show’s first season. Trailer Park Boys Inc. confirmed there are no plans to cancel or delay the release of the new season, stating the company remains “focused on delivering the long-awaited 13th season for our fans.”

This is not Smith’s first run-in with the law. On April 1, 2016, he was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery following an incident at the Hotel Roosevelt in Los Angeles. Witnesses reported hearing a woman scream, “you’re choking me,” and saw Smith pinning the woman against a wall. Smith fled the scene but was later arrested by Los Angeles Police Department officers. The charges were ultimately dropped due to lack of evidence.

Mike Smith is expected to appear in court on Monday to face the new sexual assault charges. The situation remains developing, and further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
