To complete Broken Monument, you need to:

Because you must complete everything in one round, piecemeal progress isn’t possible. If you spawn far from the Scrap Yard—such as near the Power Generation Complex or the Ruby Residences—you’ll need to make your way down south, navigating past several high-value loot locations. In my experience, it’s best to attempt this and other one-round quests only when you have a favorable spawn. This helps you get in and out quickly with quest-specific items.
Objectives in Broken Monument
The quest includes four main steps. The final objective is simply to return the three quest-specific items to Tian Wen, which happens automatically once you return to Speranza with all items in your possession.
- Reach the hallowed grounds near the Scrapyard (located in the northwestern portion of the zone).
- Search for a compass near broken-down vehicles.
- Search for a video tape near cylindrical containers.
- Search for old field rations in the Raider camp.
Where to Find the Compass Near Broken-Down Vehicles
The compass was the hardest of the three items to locate in my experience. Here’s what to look for:
- A set of rounded, oblong trucks.
- A blue broken-down car positioned at one end.
- A pair of overturned cargo containers at the other end.
The compass container is hidden in the small space between the trucks, cargo containers, and the blue car. As a helpful landmark, note there is a large, spherical structure south of this area, with a small container truck cab just south of that structure.
Where to Find the Video Tape Near Cylindrical Containers
The crate containing the video tape lies northeast of the broken-down vehicles, close to two cylindrical containers and near another pair of oblong trucks that can sometimes be breached.
One key waypoint is a nearby car that triggers an alarm if you get too close. To reach the crate:
- Approach the alarm car cautiously.
- Move directly east of the alarm car, passing through the gap between the two oblong trucks.
- You’ll find the crate containing the video tape there.
Where to Find the Old Field Rations in the Raider Camp
The small crate with the old field rations is located in the far north of the Scrap Yard. To reach it, enter the tubular structure in the Raider camp and interact with the crate to collect the rations.
The Raider camp resembles a field depot but lacks blue tarps, antennas, and various mechanical equipment. You can spot it from most areas in the Scrap Yard if you head north from the main staging area.
Finishing the Quest
After collecting each of the three quest items:
- Make sure to extract with all of them in your inventory.
- If you die, ensure the items are stored in your safe pouch.
Since all three are required, only purple-rarity Augments will fulfill this quest condition.
Once complete, you’ll see a checkmark next to the quest icon in the after-action report and can claim your rewards by speaking to Tian Wen via the Traders menu back in Speranza.
