It’s a big day for Valve as the company has revealed two new gaming devices: the Steam Machine and Steam Frame. Alongside this new hardware lineup, Valve has also introduced an updated version of the Steam Controller, designed to offer full compatibility with the company’s other products.
The new Steam Controller features an ABXY button layout, a d-pad, and symmetrical analog sticks. Notably, the trackpads are now curved squares and have been repositioned below the analog sticks. This redesigned layout closely mirrors that of the Steam Deck—a change Valve says was intentional to provide a more unified gaming experience.
Gamers will be able to use the Steam Controller to play titles on the Steam Deck, as well as the newly revealed Steam Machine and Steam Frame. The controller comes equipped with a wired puck that acts as a transmitter, wirelessly connecting the Steam Controller to a PC or compatible device. For convenience, the controller can magnetically attach to the puck for charging.
Additionally, the Steam Controller supports multiple connection options, including Bluetooth and USB, ensuring versatile compatibility across devices.
