A recent firmware update from Nintendo has caused frustration among users of third-party docks for the Nintendo Switch 2. The Version 21.0.0 firmware update, rolled out earlier this week, seemingly rendered many third-party docks non-functional. This led to accusations that Nintendo was deliberately sabotaging third-party hardware.
Nintendo has firmly denied these claims. Meanwhile, third-party manufacturers have identified the issue and begun adapting their products to address the problem. Tom’s Hardware recently confirmed this development after receiving an official statement from Nintendo regarding the matter.
An official Nintendo representative stated that the disruption was unintentional. Supporting this, several manufacturers of third-party docks have acknowledged performance issues following the recent Switch 2 update. They have since released their own firmware updates to restore full functionality. Notably, popular accessory maker AverMedia is among those who have already issued updates.
If both Nintendo and third-party dock makers are to be believed, the problem appears to have been an accidental consequence of the Version 21.0.0 update rather than an intentional act by Nintendo.
