EXCLUSIVE: Haunted – Ghosts Of The Past postponed; Vikram Bhatt reshoots 12 Days in REAL locations after FAN demand; new release set for January 30, 2026; director says, “It has the BEST 3D to date…”

The 3D format gained significant popularity among Indian audiences with the release of *Avatar* (2009), and it received a further boost thanks to Vikram Bhatt’s *Haunted* (2011). Starring Mimoh Chakraborty and Tia Bajpai, the film became a sleeper hit due to its compelling horror elements, engaging plot, effective execution, memorable music, and, of course, the innovative use of 3D technology.

Now, Vikram Bhatt is back with *Haunted Ghosts Of The Past*, which brings back Mimoh Chakraborty and introduces new cast members including Chetna Pande. The teaser for the film was released on September 3, with an initial plan to unveil the movie in cinemas on November 21. However, the film’s release has been postponed to next year.

Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Vikram Bhatt to understand the reasons behind the delay.

### EXCLUSIVE: *Haunted Ghosts Of The Past* Postponed; Vikram Bhatt Reshoots 12 Days in Real Locations After Fan Demand; New Release Date Set for January 30, 2026

Vikram Bhatt shared, “My mother was very unwell since January. In September, she passed away. Due to this tragedy, I couldn’t complete the amount of VFX work required on the film.”

He added, “When we released the teaser, the fans of the *Haunted* series expressed their disappointment. They wanted to see more real locations. We have always valued good advice, so we took their feedback seriously and decided to shoot in actual locations. We then incorporated those shots into the film. Now, we are ready to bring the film to audiences on January 30, 2026.”

Explaining further, Vikram said, “We created a lot of VFX plates for the backgrounds, but they didn’t look real enough. That’s why we went back and reshot a couple of scenes over 10-12 days.”

### Addressing Speculations About AI Use

Many netizens speculated that AI technology was used in *Haunted Ghosts Of The Past*. Vikram Bhatt clarified, “There was no AI used at all. It was all VFX. The film is set in a strange new world, and I wanted to create that world as per the story’s requirement. However, before watching the film, the audience won’t know what kind of world we are portraying, so they assumed it was bad VFX (laughs). But it actually wasn’t — it was just depicting a different world.”

### Trailer and Music Updates

When asked about the trailer release, Vikram revealed, “The trailer will be out next month.”

The songs of the original *Haunted* remain memorable to fans. So, what can audiences expect from the soundtrack of the sequel? Vikram replied, “Hopefully, we will be able to match the soundtrack of the first part, if not better it (smiles).”

### The Signature 3D Experience

No conversation about the *Haunted* series is complete without mentioning the 3D element. Vikram Bhatt made a bold claim before signing off: “I can tell you that *Haunted Ghosts Of The Past* will have the best 3D to date in Indian cinema. I just watched some of the 3D shots and was literally jumping with joy!”

Stay tuned for more updates on *Haunted Ghosts Of The Past* as the new release date approaches.
