The Toronto Blue Jays are set to lose Bo Bichette in free agency this winter after going to the World Series a month ago. They have a chance to re-sign him, but they could turn their attention elsewhere. If the Blue Jays chase Kyle Tucker on a potential $400 million deal, they’d be leaving Bichette for the rest of the league to sign. But he wouldn’t have any shortage of suitors on the open market. FanSided’s Chris Landers recently predicted Bichette would leave the Blue Jays in free agency in favor of a massive deal with the Atlanta Braves. “If the Blue Jays do in fact land Tucker, it might come at the cost of a homegrown star in Bichette a bittersweet trade, but one Toronto would probably be fine with,” Landers wrote. “The Braves figure to have plenty of money to spend, and shortstop is the one obvious place to spend it. The infield market is very thin beyond Bichette, and while Alex Anthopoulos also has pitching depth to worry about, this is a big splash well worth making. (Not to mention that Atlanta feels like a more compelling fit than other potential Bichette suitors like, say, the Detroit Tigers.)” The Braves were one of the more disappointing teams in the league this year, and they desperately need to add a shortstop to their roster. Signing Bichette would likely be very expensive for the Braves, but it’s a move they need to make. Adding Bichette to the top of the Braves’ lineup would help set the table for their sluggers a lot better than what the lineup produced this season. If the Blue Jays sign Tucker, the Braves would likely quickly emerge as one of the favorites in the sweepstakes for Bichette.
