Fortnite Chapter Seven: Pacific Break is an island without a Battle Bus

After spending some time with the residents of Springfield, Fortnite is going Hollywood. Epic Games is drawing inspiration from Tinseltown to bring players a Hollywood-themed season of its battle royale juggernaut.

**Fortnite Chapter Seven: Pacific Break** is set to welcome characters from various blockbuster movies. However, it’s also introducing arguably its biggest change to date: The Battle Bus is no more. During Saturday’s Fortnite Zero Hour event, players witnessed the Battle Bus being destroyed. So, how do players reach the all-new Hollywood-themed Fortnite island, known as the Golden Coast?

The answer is the way only Californians know how—by surfing. In an early hands-on session with the next Fortnite chapter, the round began by surfing the ocean waves. Accompanied by the sounds of The Beach Boys’ classic hit, *Surfin’ U.S.A.*, players hang ten and let the waves carry them to the island’s shores. Upon reaching land, they’re then launched skyward, giving them the freedom to position themselves anywhere on the island.

There wasn’t much time for exploration before the storm began shrinking the playing field, but I was able to check out some of the Golden Coast’s Points of Interest (POIs). Wonkeeland was where I spent the most time, featuring a theme park, hotels, and arcades scattered across several buildings. Upon entering one of these buildings, I heard a familiar voice coming from upstairs—it was The Bride from *Kill Bill*. She offered some brief exposition about her story along with a few helpful items.

Other POIs include **Ripped Tides**, **Classified Canyon**, **Battlewood Boulevard**, and **Innoloop Labs**. There appears to be more to Innoloop Labs, with Epic noting that it’s a location worth watching throughout the season.

This new Fortnite season also introduces several fresh mechanics. Players can try out a new self-revive device that helps them get back into the fight. Additionally, a reboot van can be found somewhere on the map. While I spotted one from a distance, I didn’t get close enough to see it in action.

I also didn’t have a chance to experience the new DBNO (down but not out) additions—partly because I wound up winning the match. It turns out that aiming a sniper rifle at the Sandy Strip beach area was the key to victory in this session.

The Bride will be available as part of this season’s Battle Pass, marking Epic’s bigger push to introduce the world of *Kill Bill* into Fortnite. Players can expect to see more characters pulled from popular blockbusters of the late 20th century. For example, Marty McFly from *Back to the Future* will be included in the next Battle Pass.

As always, Fortnite has exciting collaborations lined up for the future, with Epic expected to reveal them later. The season ahead will also introduce new gameplay elements such as the wingsuit, which offers a fresh aerial view and a fast way to traverse the island.

Boss characters may appear occasionally, and players will have the opportunity to eliminate them—and then take on their roles. Plus, there’s unspecified new loot and weaponry set to debut in the coming weeks.

For those who watched Fortnite Zero Hour, the wait won’t be long. Fortnite Chapter Seven: Pacific Break is set to kick off today. Get ready to dive into the Golden Coast and experience all the new thrills this Hollywood-themed season has to offer!
