**Senator Cynthia Lummis Announces Retirement, Aims to Cement Legacy with Crypto Market Legislation**

Senator Cynthia Lummis has announced that she will not seek re-election next year and will retire when her term ends in 2027. Her final focus in Congress will be advancing legislation related to the crypto market structure, marking a significant chapter in her public service career.

Lummis made history as the first chair of the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Digital Assets. Speaking about her decision to step down, she cited exhaustion and said she did not have the stamina for another six-year term. “It’s an incredible honor to represent Wyoming in the U.S. Senate, and throughout my time here, Wyoming has been my one-and-only priority,” Lummis shared in a statement.

“Deciding not to run for reelection does represent a change of heart for me, but in the difficult, exhausting session weeks this fall I’ve come to accept that I do not have six more years in me. I am a devout legislator, but I feel like a sprinter in a marathon. The energy required doesn’t match up,” she added.

During her tenure, Senator Lummis has left a lasting imprint through her strong advocacy for Bitcoin and efforts to position the United States as a global hub for crypto innovation. She has introduced several Bitcoin-focused proposals, including the Bitcoin ACT, which would require the U.S. government to acquire up to 1 million Bitcoin over five years to establish a federal strategic Bitcoin reserve.

In addition, Lummis has supported legislation aimed at simplifying digital asset taxation by exempting crypto transactions under $300 from capital gains taxes. These initiatives highlight her commitment to advancing the digital currency ecosystem in the U.S.

As Senator Lummis prepares to conclude her time in Congress, her work on crypto market structure legislation stands as a key part of her legacy, reflecting her vision for the future of digital assets and financial innovation.
