Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson welcomed their first child in April 2018 in Cleveland, during Tristan’s tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Khloe gave birth shortly after an alleged cheating scandal involving the NBA star, about a year and a half after the couple publicly confirmed their relationship.
Over the next few years, Khloe and Tristan faced several ups and downs but continued to co-parent their daughter, True.
In December 2021, it was revealed that Maralee Nichols had filed a lawsuit against Tristan the previous June for pregnancy and birth expenses. The lawsuit stemmed from a sexual encounter on Tristan’s 30th birthday in March of that year. Maralee’s filing stated that she was pregnant with a baby boy and identified Tristan as the father.
In response, Tristan confirmed in his own legal filing that he had been intimate with Maralee around the time in question and requested a paternity test.
Maralee gave birth to their son, Theo, in December 2021. She told E! News that she met Tristan in 2020, and he had informed her that he was “single and co-parenting.”
In January 2022, Tristan took to Instagram to announce the results of the paternity test, confirming that he is Theo’s father. He expressed remorse, saying:
“Khloe, you don’t deserve this. You don’t deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don’t deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you.”
He also stated his intention to “amicably raise” his son with Maralee.
However, in February 2022, Maralee’s representative told E! News that the NBA star had not made any attempt to meet their child. Tristan has not publicly commented on this matter since.
In December 2022, multiple outlets reported that Tristan reached an agreement with Maralee regarding child support and custody. Under the terms, he will pay $9,500 per month in child support, while Maralee will have sole custody of Theo.
