Mike Macdonald’s wife, Stephanie Macdonald, is happy to root for the Seattle Seahawks, despite having previously cheered for other teams in the league. The Seahawks head coach met the former NFL cheerleader when they both worked for the Baltimore Ravens. They got married in 2021 and have since welcomed one child.
After he was named head coach of the Seahawks in 2024, Mike shared during an introductory press conference that his wife is an “absolute rock star,” assuring the audience that “the city will fall in love with her,” per the Seahawks’ website. Stephanie also shared her thoughts after the press conference, saying she felt “so lucky” to be joining the Seahawks family. “Walking in and having that warm welcome, I’m like ‘Alright, this is where we’re meant to be,'” she said.

### She Is a Virginia Tech Alum
Stephanie may be rooting for Seattle now, but she grew up a proud Hokie. She was born in Annapolis, Md., though she was primarily raised in Fredericksburg, Va., as she told The Blonde Side blog in 2015. She then attended Virginia Tech, where she was on the cheer team.
Per her LinkedIn, Stephanie graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in communication and also minored in sociology.
### She Is a Former NFL Cheerleader
While Stephanie has been supporting her husband’s coaching career, she also had an NFL career of her own as a cheerleader for eight years. According to the Seattle Seahawks website, she cheered for the Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens, and the Washington Commanders.
“Each team had such a special place in my heart,” she told the site, noting that her favorite moment was when she was named Pro Bowl cheerleader for the Ravens in 2014.
In addition to her cheer career, Stephanie is a singer. During her time with the Commanders, she had the honor of singing the National Anthem before a game. Per her LinkedIn, Stephanie has also held several roles in sales.

During a December 2022 appearance on The Purple Chair Podcast, Stephanie shared some insight into the early days of her relationship with Mike, revealing that they met when they were both involved with the Baltimore Ravens.
At the time, Mike was a defensive coordinator, and Stephanie was a cheerleader. Stephanie shared that they met in passing but didn’t realize he was on the coaching staff initially. When she found out, she told him, “We can’t do this.”
Notably, their meeting occurred in October 2015, which also happened to be Mike’s last season with the team. They caught up after the season ended, and in March 2016, they began dating after Stephanie left the Ravens.
### They Married in 2021
Mike and Stephanie got engaged in the summer of 2019, as she shared on X in July. They wed in 2021, according to the University of Michigan Athletics website.
Since then, Stephanie has been a big supporter of Mike’s career. In January 2022, she shared a heartfelt post on X reflecting on their time in Michigan, following his role as defensive coordinator for the University of Michigan.

### Mike Called Her a “Warrior” After They Welcomed Their Son Jack
Mike and Stephanie welcomed their first child, son Jack, in early December 2024. The day after he was born, Mike announced the news at a press conference.
“Well, I guess the cat’s out of the bag by now,” he said. “But Steph had our boy last night, and both are happy and healthy. Man, it’s a crazy statement to say out loud, but we’re really excited and really blessed, obviously.”
Mike continued by praising his wife, saying, “What women can do is just an unbelievable thing. What a warrior she is, and she’s awesome.”
