A 54-year-old man has been charged in connection with a double murder that occurred in Fall River on Friday.

Arlington Cole, 54, of Fall River, faces two counts of murder and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn, III. Cole is accused of killing Elizabeth Almeida, 54, and her son Nicholas Almeida, 25, at 431 Barnes Street.

The District Attorney’s office reports that Cole is expected to be arraigned at Fall River District Court on Monday. The double murder investigation is being conducted by the Massachusetts State Police, the DA’s office, and the Fall River Police Department.

### Teen Arrested on Gun Charges in Boston

Boston Police arrested an 18-year-old on gun charges early Sunday morning in Mattapan. Tyler Powell, of Dorchester, was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large capacity firearm, and defacement of a firearm serial number.

Police say Powell was arrested after a car he was riding in failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Bowdoin Street and Washington Street just after midnight. During a pat frisk, officers recovered a Smith & Wesson SD40VE with an obliterated serial number and nine rounds in the magazine strapped to Powell’s waistband.

Powell is expected to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court.
