**New Hampshire Man Charged in Border Shooting Incident**
CONCORD, N.H. – Authorities have charged a New Hampshire resident in connection with a shooting that occurred near the state’s border with Canada, federal prosecutors announced Tuesday.
Blu Zeke Daly, 26, also known as Cullan Zeke Daly, of Manchester, faces one count of attempted murder of a federal officer and one count of assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon, according to prosecutors.
The incident took place early Sunday near the border, when a U.S. Border Patrol agent shot Daly as the agent returned fire after Daly had opened fire, investigators said Monday. Daly is currently hospitalized and receiving medical treatment under guard.
The Border Patrol agent involved was unharmed, though his name has not been released by authorities.
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that shots were fired around 1 a.m. Sunday in Pittsburg, New Hampshire—a small town of about 800 residents located at the border with Canada.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Hampshire, a Border Patrol agent encountered Daly driving alone near the border late Saturday and followed him for a distance. Daly then arrived at the Pittsburg Port of Entry, which was closed at the time.
“The Border Patrol agent activated his emergency lights and exited his vehicle, at which point Daly started to turn. Daly then fired a handgun at the Border Patrol agent. The agent returned fire with his own service weapon and shot Daly,” the statement said.
It remains unclear if Daly has obtained legal representation.
Prosecutors emphasized that the case is still under investigation, with the FBI leading the inquiry.
Pittsburg is a rural community that hosts New Hampshire’s only border crossing with the Canadian province of Quebec. The town is located approximately 150 miles (241 kilometers) north of the state capital, Concord, and borders Maine and Vermont as well as Canada.
