**Name:** Fransisca Miraningtyas
**Age:** 46
**From:** Jakarta, Indonesia

For Fransisca Miraningtyas, running is not just about finishing a marathon — it’s about giving back to the community and helping others see the world more clearly.

She is running to support people with visual impairments so they can regain their sight and live their daily lives with confidence and independence.

This cause is very personal to Fransisca. She lives with pterygium in both of her eyes, a condition that can affect vision. She has already undergone surgery in one eye, with a second surgery scheduled after the Boston Marathon.

Fransisca feels fortunate that her workplace supports her and covers the cost of her surgery. However, this also makes her think about many others who need the same treatment but cannot afford it. Eye surgery can be expensive, and for many, it is simply out of reach.

That is why she runs. Every step she takes is a reminder that small actions can make a difference.

Through running, Fransisca hopes to raise awareness and inspire support for people who need access to eye care and vision-restoring treatment.

Running has taught her resilience, gratitude, and compassion. While crossing the finish line is meaningful, what matters more is the impact created along the way.

*”If my miles can help even one person regain their sight and return to their daily activities with hope, then every step is worth it,”* she says.

For Fransisca, running is not just about moving forward; it’s about helping others see their way forward, too.
