COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) — Cook County officials spoke Thursday about claims that ICE is violating state law and a court order by carrying out civil immigration enforcement at state courthouses, including in Cook County. Elected officials and the Cook County Public Defender say a video shows a woman being taken into custody by federal agents who followed her after she left court last month. ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch ABC7 blurred the woman’s face in the video because it’s not clear if she faces charges. Speaking from the City-County building Thursday evening, elected leaders and community groups said ICE agents appeared at the domestic violence courthouse on West Harrison on Thursday with the intent of taking someone into custody. ABC7 has reached out to the Department of Homeland Security, but has not gotten a response.
