**India innings: Amanjot and Deepti power Indian batting performance**

Batting first, India were well placed at 81/1 at one stage thanks to Pratika Rawal (37) and Harleen Deol (48). However, left-arm spinner Inoka Ranaweera’s magical spell reduced the hosts to 124/6. Then arrived Amanjot in the middle to join Deepti. Both batters operated with great intent as India finished at 269/8 in their allotted 47 overs.

### Amanjot joins Vastrakar with maiden fifty

Amanjot, who scored 57 from 56 balls, including five fours and a maximum, became just the second Indian to register a 50-plus score from No. 8 or lower in WODIs. She joined Pooja Vastrakar, who has four such scores to her name. This was Amanjot’s maiden fifty in the format, bringing her total runs to 155 at an average of 19.37. She later contributed with the ball as well, claiming 1/37 from six overs.

### Deepti’s 16th fifty in WODIs

Deepti made a quick run-a-ball 53, featuring three fours. This innings brought her career tally to 2,577 WODI runs at an average of 37.89. The knock marked her 16th WODI fifty and adds to her record of one hundred. Deepti has been particularly effective against Sri Lanka, scoring 341 runs at an average of 42.62, including three fifties. This was also her third fifty in Women’s World Cup matches.

### Sensational run in 2025 for Deepti

Deepti is enjoying a dream year with the bat in 2025. Having played 15 WODIs so far this year, she amassed 434 runs at an impressive average of 72.33. Her innings against Sri Lanka was her fourth fifty this year.

### Record partnership for Deepti and Amanjot

According to ESPNcricinfo, Deepti and Amanjot forged the second-highest seventh-wicket partnership in Women’s World Cup history. Their 103-run stand is only behind compatriots Sneh Rana and Pooja Vastrakar, who put together a 122-run partnership against Pakistan in the 2022 edition of the tournament. Notably, no other Indian pair has recorded a 100-plus stand for the seventh wicket or lower in WODIs.

### Other Indian batters’ contributions

Opener Pratika Rawal made a solid 37 off 59 balls, including three fours and a six. She shared a 67-run partnership with Harleen Deol, who narrowly missed out on her fifth WODI fifty, scoring 48 off 64 balls with six fours. Sneh Rana provided an explosive finish with an unbeaten 28 from just 15 balls, featuring two fours and two sixes. Rana also contributed with the ball, taking 2/32 from her 10 overs.

### Inoka Ranaweera claims four wickets

Sri Lanka’s Inoka Ranaweera was the standout bowler with a sensational spell, taking three wickets in a single over. She finished with figures of 4/46 from nine overs, marking her third four-wicket haul in WODIs, with best figures of 4/39. Ranaweera now has 84 WODI wickets at an average of 32.84, including two four-wicket hauls against India. In WODI World Cups, she boasts 13 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 30.15.

**Sri Lanka innings: Indian spinners dictate terms**

Chasing a revised target of 271 in 47 overs, Sri Lanka started well at 82/1 but soon suffered a dramatic collapse. Indian spinners Deepti (3/54), Sneh Rana (2/32), and Shree Charani (2/37) were exceptional in the middle overs, ensuring no Sri Lankan batter reached a half-century. Sri Lanka was ultimately bowled out for 211 in 45.4 overs.

### Sri Lankan batters throw away starts

Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu looked in good touch, hitting four boundaries and three sixes in her 43-run innings off 47 balls. Her dismissal triggered a collapse. Athapaththu had added 52 runs in partnership with Harshitha Samarawickrama, who also squandered her start, scoring 29 off 45 balls with three fours. At number six, Nilakshi de Silva played a fiery 29-ball 35, including four fours and a six.

### Deepti becomes India’s second-highest wicket-taker in WODIs

With her 3/54 haul, Deepti picked up her second wicket of the innings to surpass Neetu David and become India’s second-highest wicket-taker in WODI cricket. She now has 143 wickets at an average of 28.19 and an economy rate of 4.29. The 28-year-old’s wickets include two four-wicket hauls and three five-wicket hauls. She remains second only to Jhulan Goswami, who has 255 wickets.

India’s combined batting resilience, led by Amanjot and Deepti, along with disciplined bowling performances, helped secure a dominant position in the match. The Indian spinners, in particular, were instrumental in deflating Sri Lanka’s chase and leading India towards victory.
