The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has addressed recent opposition allegations claiming that actor-turned-politician Vijay is part of its so-called “B-team.” These accusations came in the wake of a tragic stampede at Vijay’s rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, on September 27, which resulted in 41 deaths and left over 60 people injured.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that a sudden power outage coupled with a crowd surge contributed to the chaos during the event. The situation escalated further when Vijay arrived late at around 7:00 PM, triggering another surge among the attendees.
### BJP Blames DMK for the Stampede
BJP leader Khushbu Sundar criticized the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government for negligence in arranging adequate space for the rally. Sundar stated, “The entire people of Tamil Nadu believe that there was complete negligence.” She also condemned Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for his lack of response following the tragedy.
### BJP’s Official Stance on ‘B-Team’ Allegations
In response to the opposition’s claims about Vijay being part of a BJP “B-team,” senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan commented, “I don’t know about ‘A-team’ or ‘B-team.’ There can be an ‘A to Z team.’” She further emphasized that the BJP is fundamentally a “people’s team.”

According to NDTV sources, the BJP is keen on leveraging Vijay’s widespread popularity ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Reports indicate that the BJP has initiated contact with Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), following the stampede incident.
A senior BJP leader reassured TVK members that Vijay would not be left to face any political targeting by the DMK alone. The party has also advised maintaining patience while planning to intensify efforts to corner the DMK in upcoming political strategies.
