The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a response to opposition claims that actor-turned-politician Vijay is part of its so-called “B-team.” This controversy arose following a tragic stampede at Vijay’s rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, on September 27, which resulted in 41 deaths and left over 60 people injured.
### Rally Chaos and Tragic Stampede
Eyewitnesses reported that a sudden power outage combined with a surge in the crowd led to the disaster. The stampede occurred when Vijay arrived late at approximately 7:00 PM, triggering another wave of crowd movement.
### BJP Blames DMK for the Stampede
BJP leader Khushbu Sundar accused the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) of negligence in managing the rally venue. She stated, “The entire people of Tamil Nadu believe that there was complete negligence.” Sundar also criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for not addressing the tragedy in a timely manner.
### Senior BJP Leader Responds to ‘B-Team’ Allegations
In response to the opposition’s accusations, senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan said, “I don’t know about ‘A-team’ or ‘B-team.’ There can be an ‘A to Z team.’” She emphasized that the BJP is essentially a “people’s team.”
According to NDTV sources, the BJP intends to capitalize on Vijay’s widespread popularity ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections.
### BJP Reaches Out to Vijay’s Party Amid Speculations
Following the stampede, BJP reportedly reached out to Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). A senior BJP official assured TVK leaders that Vijay would not be left isolated should he face targeting by the DMK.
Sources quoted by NDTV indicated that BJP has urged patience and is preparing to challenge the DMK through strategic political maneuvers in the near future.
