The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has updated its recommendation regarding the combined MMRV vaccine.
They now advise that the combined MMRV vaccine is **not recommended** for children under the age of 4.
However, children in this age group can still receive the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) and varicella (chickenpox) vaccines, but these should be administered as separate doses.
Dr. Celine Gounder provides further explanation on this updated guidance.
