**SC Issues Notice to Assam Government Over ‘Muslim Takeover’ AI-Generated Video**

The Supreme Court of India has issued a notice in response to a plea seeking the removal of an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated video released by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Assam unit. The video, which was shared on the social media platform X, allegedly conveys a narrative of Muslim domination in Assam if the BJP loses the upcoming elections.
**Hearing and Notices Issued**
A bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta heard the case and subsequently issued notices to the Union Government, the Assam state government, and X (formerly Twitter) regarding the matter.
**Concerns Raised About the Video**
The plea, filed by journalist Qurban Ali and Senior Advocate Anjana Prakash, claims the video promotes a “grossly false narrative” suggesting that Muslims would take over Assam if the BJP is out of power. Posted on September 15, 2025, the AI-generated video reportedly shows Muslims taking control of various significant locations across Assam, including tea estates, Guwahati airport, Guwahati Stadium, Rang Ghar, and different parts of Guwahati town.
Further, the video allegedly depicts illegal Muslim migrants entering Assam and acquiring government lands. It also falsely suggests that Muslims make up 90% of the state’s population — a claim challenged by the petitioners.
**What the Plea States**
The petition highlights that the video prominently features visibly Muslim individuals—identified by skullcaps and burqas—taking over key sites across Assam. It argues that the BJP’s Assam unit, being a constitutional entity, is obligated to uphold the secular values of the Indian Constitution. Instead, by posting this video from its official handle, the party is accused of openly targeting, vilifying, and demonizing the Muslim community.
**Legal Action Sought**
The petitioners have urged the court to direct authorities to register a First Information Report (FIR) or initiate contempt proceedings against those responsible for creating and disseminating the video. The plea also calls for sustained action against hate speeches and divisive content across India.
The Supreme Court has scheduled the next hearing in this case for October 28, 2025.
