A Republican political figure faced mockery on social media after expressing outrage over Donald Trump’s latest move.
Ari Fleischer, a former White House press secretary in the George W. Bush administration and current Fox News contributor, voiced confusion about Trump’s decision to commute the prison sentence of disgraced GOP ex-lawmaker George Santos.
“Why? This is a mistake,” Fleischer wrote on social media over the weekend. “Wire fraud and identity theft are serious crimes.”
His remarks sparked numerous responses, including from conservative strategist Tim Miller, who fired back at Fleischer:
“Because you supported someone who is running a corrupt banana republic style government where enemies are prosecuted, criminal friends are pardoned, and foreign interests can buy favor by investing the leader’s cryptocurrency. Hope that helps.”
