Good morning! We’ve enjoyed a nice and dry weekend, but rain returns tomorrow. This will be the first of two rounds of rain expected this week, and the weather could turn unsettled at times late in the week.
Temperatures start off cool but will rebound to warm highs in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. We’ll see increasing clouds throughout the day, and it will turn breezy. Be sure to enjoy the calm before the storm!
**Rain and Wind Incoming**
Changes are inbound tomorrow as a cold front brings heavy rain and gusty winds, which will impact our morning commute. The front is progressive, so the rain should wrap up by early afternoon.
Here’s a closer look at the timing of the rain:
– Overnight, expect a lot of clouds with some spotty showers developing.
– The main event arrives around 6-7 a.m. for Worcester County and parts of MetroWest. Plan on a messy and slow commute during this time.
– The rain will continue to fill in along the coast throughout the morning, driven by strong winds.
– The peak of heavy rain and strong wind will be by 10 a.m.
– By early afternoon, the rain will lift northeast and offshore, though clouds will remain with some breaks of sun possible.
Temperatures will start out in the 50s, rising into the mid to upper 60s during the morning. Once the front passes, temperatures will fall back into the 50s.
**Rainfall and Wind Details**
Most areas can expect between 0.50 and 1 inch of rainfall, but locally higher amounts are possible under heavier downpours. The greatest threat for excessive rainfall and potential flash flooding will be to our west and north.
Today will be breezy with winds gusting out of the south at 20-25 mph. Take time to secure your Halloween decorations or anything else you have outside. It stays breezy overnight.
Wind will peak tomorrow morning through early afternoon, with gusts between 30-50 mph. The strongest winds are expected across Cape Cod and the Islands. It will remain breezy into tomorrow evening.
**Looking Ahead**
Another frontal system moves through on Wednesday, though it appears weaker. Showers will arrive during the morning commute and linger throughout the day. It will also be breezy with winds gusting up to 35 mph.
We’ll remain under a trough with yet another cold front coming through Thursday into Friday. There’s a chance for a spot shower during this period. More noticeable will be the cooler air moving in, with highs dropping into the upper 50s on Friday and next Saturday.
Stay prepared and stay safe!
